Thanks for visiting! My name is Kaitlyn and I’m the maker behind Sew Lovely Quilt Shop, which is based in Monmouth County, NJ.

How did you get started in quilting? For me, it was a slow process. I don’t remember exactly when, but I started to notice how beautiful quilts were and they would always catch my eye. At some point, I started thinking, I should take a quilting class. At the time, I didn’t even have a needle or thread, let alone a sewing machine (or all the other notions I’ve seemed to collect over the years). I finally signed up for a quilting class at a local quilt shop in Santa Monica, CA that I would drive by almost weekly. My mom graciously offered to buy me my first machine as a Christmas gift a few months before I started the class.

Quilting had always been something I was interested in, but I never would have imagined the joy that it would bring me. I have grown so much as a person and as a quilter from that first quilting class and quilt. I started participating in quilt-alongs, watching videos, reading blogs and immersing myself into all things quilting. I’ve found that the quilting community is one of the best to be a part of and all the pretty fabrics don’t hurt 🙂

Sew Lovely Quilt Shop is a nod to both of my late grandmas, while neither of them were quilters, they were both my biggest cheerleaders. My grandma Lois was (lovingly) known as the Drill Sergeant and we, her grandchildren, known as Lovely Lois’ Lieutenants (we even had shirts made!). My grandma Ida taught me how to crochet and made blankets for her great-grandchildren, so I know quilting will honor her love of crafting.
